was that a knife in his pocket or was he just happy to see us?

i believe today is the hottest day of the year but i know for certain last night was the strangest night of my life. grace and i went to the ten cat for a couple of beers and met up with a boy who shall remain unnamed. because grace had consumed barbituates before our adventure she split the scene early. so the boy and i, i'll call him ricardo, wandered around the city for a couple of hours with no destination because both of live with our parents. sad but true. so we're just wandering around talking and we decide to explore this construction site. or rather, "ricardo" decided to go ahead and walk through it and i followed suit whimpering all the while. we end up on the back of the house talking and one thing led to another and we started making out. no big whoop right?
all of a sudden i heard something and turned to see this creeeeepy man in the alley right outside the fence. he had long white hair and a beard and skin that looked as if it had been seeped in alcohol for twenty years. whiskey specificially. i thought nothing of his presence at first since there was a locked fence between us. he started walking toward us and made some sort of grunting sound that i supposed indicated his pleasure in seeing us kiss. rather strange again. then he reached for the fence and began to pull it open to get closer to us.
i looked at ricardo and said "let's get the fuck out of here" and booked it. over the 2x4s, mounds of dirt, through the fence and down the street as fast as my legs could take me. did this man think he was going to join or something? shit dawg. i wasn't about to stick around to find out.
who knows what he could have done! yeesh. i get creeped out just thinking about it.
so ricardo and i wandered the streets once more only to part ways into separate cabs. so in the end i was left a little nervous about strange men and mad disapointed that at 21 i'm reverting to my teen years where making out in the back of a construction site was ok because there is no alternative. scary to say it, but i actually miss my dorm room.

sarah - it's been 24 hours since belwah. i must say it's been an adventure ... it's just beginning. in short - you need to come visit me so we can make out behind construction sites. haha. right.
where are the pictures from friday night?

electrons, cigarettes, dilated pupils and corn dogs

the last 36+ hours....yeah. my brain is still fuzzy and i am having a difficult time recalling exactly what happened yesterday. i started yesterday morning with the Fundamentals of Physics volume 2. how should i define current, resistance, and capacitance? was that really the membrane potential that i was measuring? will rama ask me questions that i won't be able to answer? just some of the many thoughts that spun through my head as i threw together a very short powerpoint presentation. the presentation didn't actually go as bad as i thought it would, but pretending to be a white man was just not doing the trick and i could hear my voice shake as a mumbled about voltage and cable propeties of neurons. at least i did not forget to use the word "propagate" 12 times...i told carrick the only way to add a word into my 5th grade vocab is to use it over and over again.

the rest of yesterday is mostly a blur. i remember buying cigarettes and beer, watching tv, wandering around campus, and finding little ants all over me. and the 20 questions ball knew that i was thinking of a sloth! what excitement.
things got mildly interesting post 2:00 am. the research was going slow, the brain was tired, but my mind was focused. i owe it all to the amphetamines. this is around the time that i came across the wonderful website wikipedia. blah blah blah...moving on to around 4:00 am. attempted to make my way to the bathroom, which is right around the corner from my room. slammed straight into the edge of the door with my nose and forehead because it was too dark to see where the doorway was. decided to treat my wounds with a delicious microwavable corn dog and a cigarette. pure ecstasy.
i proceeded to do a little more work and then watched the sun come up from the front porch and basked in the heat for a while. at this point maggie was awake and leaving for work...and she saw my crackhead eyes. pupils dilated to the max. i guess that's what happens when you pop pills all night and don't get a wink of sleep.
a little before 9:00 i took a shower. you know how you don't need to turn on the lights when it is sunny outside? so, i'm in the shower and then all of a sudden it got a little darker in the bathroom. i thought maybe someone had come in and was standing in front of the window blocking the sunlight, but then it got darker and darker and darker....it got to the point where i could not see my feet or legs or where the soap tray had gone.
the wind was blowing, the rain was pouring, and the trees were swaying. the housemates were involved with watching the storm, as i struggled to keep my eyes open. some how i did more work today, and am still awake. yet, the dilated pupils remained until late this afternoon.

is there repressed anger lurking in this house? i dreamt a few weeks ago that justus was being a total asshole to me, and he dreamt that i was trying to shoot him.

margaret, what the hell is up with the celebrities? avril replaced her skater boy with a 41 year old? so intriguing

stella's grooving no longer

i said that i would post on celebrity sociology didn't i?
well...
1.)apparently avril lavringe is wedding a 41 year old. does anyone else worry about the ensuing power dynamics of that marriage? will she not wake with regret one sad morning?

2.) the author of how stella got her groove back is divorcing her jamaican husband, claiming he was not truthful about his homosexuality and used her to gain american citizenship. how can a story that inspired so many middle-aged women around the country be a sham? because they always are. sorry oprah.

3.) gene wilder is apparently very angry about the new charlie and chocolate factory. he worries that it will ruin america's memories of childhood with what he's sees can only be capitalistic motivations for such a remake. he fails to see, as depp reports, that every single movie is made with hopes of a profit. there are no free fairy tales. also, the scriptwriter for the film never saw the original film; he based it entirely off the road dahl novel. so chill out gene, you really aren't the original wonka, it can be done again and quite frankly, i think you're just scared that johnny was better.

all this from ten minutes of procrastination & reading entertainment weekly.

the winds came down and rains came up

this morning i awoke to a blackened sky and the rumble of the gods playing on their celestial bowling alley. i grappled for my alarm clock and wondered how the hell the sky could be so dark at this hour. i was answered with nuri's screams in the hallway -- is it a tornado?! so i pulled on my shorts and attempted to move down the stairs spotted with the stunned bodies of my housemates. with glazed morning eyes they sat with the door open watching the storm unfold. it was the perfect capstone to our summer: tomorrow we present our research for all those on campus and our stomachs are churning and tensions are high among us.

sarah's worried but i told her that she should spend the whole time speaking on the limitations of research. that way no one can blame her that her lazy ass professor skipped town two weeks ago. mothafucka.

i can hear harry downstairs belting to "i will follow him" which was most recently redone in the Whoopi Goldberg film Sister Act. I can just imagine Harry prancing around in a nun's outfit singing in his tone-deaf baritone. that kid.

sarah, i believe it's your turn.

stage fright & white men

i spoke with linda yesterday about my apprehension concerning the presentations on friday. she gave me some excellent advice:
"act like you're an arrogant white male and tell us what you think is gospel".
never was there a truer word spoken.

sarah - any words of wisdom about white men from brett?

B O P

tonight we visited our dear friend bert down on grand ave. our gentlemanly friend arune accompanied us to ensure our safety. upon the arrival of bartolow the neighborhood italian, arune placed his 6'1" frame in his way and breathed his liquored breath into his face: "get the fuck out of here you motherfucker". bartolow scampered from the doorway but arune followed him into the parking lot where he took his MGD draft bottle and broke off the neck on the curb. bartolow cringed as the bottle grazed his cheek, "p p p please dear sweet man, i mean you no harm. i only darkened the shadow of your door because i could not resist the sweet smell of sarah's breasts."
arune shuddered at the thought of sarah's sweet body suffering under the gaze of such a scoundrel. all of a sudden a click was heard in the background. bartolow's eyes widened in fear and arune saw the reflection of flame in his pupils. he spun around to see margaret weilding her notorious marvin gaye lighter, its three foot flame igniting the dense july air. sarah yelped as she clung to the door frame,"Margaret NO!!!" Arune stepped aside as the flame scalded bartolow's thinning hair. he screamed in pain first, then pleasure.
yeah. that was our night at the B O P.
more to come.
